SEDC and USOE are offering classes to teachers who wish to aquire a Reading Endorsement. The next class offered is the following:
Reading Assessment and Instructional Interventions (EDRG 5350/6350)
The purpose of this course is to provide teachers with the understanding of and the varied purposes for outcome or summative assessments (Benchmark) screening assessments (Interim) , progress monitoring assessments, (Formative) and diagnostic assessments and the part they play in instructional decision-making. Additionally, teachers will examine spelling errors, writing samples and other informal assessment data in the context of developing a case study consisting of appropriate scientifically-based instructional procedures and interventions. Through this experience, teachers will learn how to group students for instruction, evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs, methods, and materials, and manage and analyze assessment data. Types of Assessments to be used for ELA for the Common Core will also be reviewed and analyzed.
Instructor
Nancy Roundy is the Reading Specialist for Kane County School District. She has extensive experience as a Classroom Teacher, Adjunct Professor and Training Facilitator. She holds a Reading Level II endorsement as well as an English as a Second Language Endorsement. She is a DIBELS Trainer,Common Core Teacher Trainer and Certified Teacher Instructor for The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council accredited program

Dates and Times
Classes will begin on Tuesday, February 12 and run for 10 consecutive weeks from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Costs
Participants are required to pay a $45 fee to SUU to obtain credit.
