The International Visitor Leadership Program hosted a visit from nine representatives of rural schools from the countries of Burma, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. They were touring through Utah and visiting rural schools looking for more ways to meet the needs of their rural schools.
These exceptional visitors from East Asia indicated that their experience has positively changed their perception of the United States and will facilitate meaningful progress in Rural Access to Education upon their return home.
The meeting with SEDC, CUES, NUES AND SESC was held at the county school district office in Kamas. As the Utah Regional Service Centers discussed how they serve rural schools the representatives asked questions on how the centers were funded, support from the legislature, the technology that is supported and used in classroom, the development of curriculum and how the centers assessed and met the needs of schools here in Utah. It was a great exchange of information and the beginnings of creating connections for further collaboration to share resources.
The Utah Regional Service Centers were honored to be a part of the discussion and to have the opportunity to meet with these representatives as they strive to increase the effectiveness of education their schools.
