The districts in the Southwest Region offered the opportunity for middle and high school teachers to receive professional development by taking a math endorsement class. The class, “Focus on Functions” used high quality math tasks to meed the standards of the new Common Core.
The class was funded by a grant written by SEDC, the grant allowed the use of instructors that were certified and highly qualified. In order to reach teachers in the most rural areas, SEDC hosted the class in Cedar City, and used the eReach system, enabling teachers to attend without having to travel great distances. There were 26 teachers that completed the class.
